APAR= II10009
LOTUS CC:MAIL FOR THE INTERNET RELEASE 1
WITH AS/400 CLIENT ACCESS FOR WINDOWS 95 R311
***** This APAR is a continuation of II10008 *****

 4. Verify that the user profile signed onto Client Access
    has a valid directory entry. On most systems the user id
    is the same (or the first 8 characters of) the user
    profile.  Enter the command:
      DSPDIRE (userid system) where userid is your user id,
                              and system is the system name.

    Verify that the user profile (not necessarily the user
    id) matches the "Current User" signed onto Client Access.

    You MUST be using a Mail Service level of System message
    store. Page down through the DSPDIRE information until
    the following entry is found:
        Mail service level . . : System message store

    You MUST be using a Preferred Address of User ID/Address
    or SMTP name. If Preferred Address is SMTP name then
    Address type must be blank.

    If you are running a TCP/IP network with SMTP configured
    and active then you should be using the SMTP option:
        Preferred address . . . :   SMTP name
        Address type. . . . . . :

    SNA-only networks (twinax for example) can use the
    setting "User ID/Address" if they do not wish to
    configure SMTP:
        Preferred address . . . :   User ID/Address
        Address type  . . . . . :

    The only other valid value for Preferred Address is "4)
    Other Preferred Address" with Address type FAXTELNB. Use
    this only for a Facsimile Support/400 user.

    The cc:Mail entries must be left blank when using cc:Mail
    for the Internet. For example, you should see:
        cc:Mail (trademark of Lotus Development Corporation):
          cc:Mail address . . . :
          cc:Mail comment . . . :

 5. Verify that the system storage limit is below the
    threshold. Certain mail functions will not be allowed to
    run when free disk space drops below pre-defined limits.
    Check for threshold messages sent to message queue
    QSYSOPR:
       DSPMSG QSYSOPR.

  To determine amount of disk space available use the
  command:
       WRKSYSSTS
  It will display the % system ASP used.

  The auxiliary storage pool (ASP) threshold is set in the
  system service tools. The system administrator can view or
  change this value using:
       STRSST, 2- Work with disk configuration, 3 - work with
       ASP threshold.

 6. Verify Mail System Framework is active. If it is not
    active, see below under System Administration Tasks.
    Enter the following command:
             WRKJOB QMSF
    Verify that you have at least one job in "ACTIVE" status.

 7. Verify that QSNADS subsystem is active (optional). This
    subsystem must be active to send/receive mail to OV/400
    users and other SNA connected AS/400 systems. Enter the
    following command to check the subsystem status:
             WRKACTJOB SBS(QSNADS)

 Troubleshooting the IBM AS/400 Address Book
 -------------------------------------------

 Verify that the AS/400 Address Book server job is running.
 Enter the following command:
             WRKJOB QTPOPABCH
 Verify that the job is active. If it is not, see the system
 administrator section for instructions on configuring the
 AS/400 address book.

 Verify that the PC's cc:Mail profile is configured to use
 the AS/400 address book. See Client Installation section,
 Configure addressing (Optional) for instructions.

 System Administrator Tasks
 ==========================

 The information documented in this section will be used by
 your AS/400 system administrator. For complete information
 on the AS/400 POP3 mail server refer to the TCP/IP
 Configuration and Reference manual, SC41-3420-03 or later.

 Installing cc:Mail from a server or Network drive
----------------------------------- ---------------

 cc:Mail can be installed directly from the CD or from a
 network drive. To copy the CD install image to a network
 drive use the XCOPY command. From an MS-DOS Prompt:

   XCOPY cd-source-directory target-directory /s

 For example, if the CD is located on the G drive and you
 want to copy the CD install image to a directory named
 ccmail on your D drive execute the following command:
   xcopy g:  d: ccmail /s

 Create user profile and System Distribution Directory entry
 -----------------------------------------------------------

 Each Client Access cc:Mail user must have the following:

 1. An AS/400 user profile (CRTUSRPRF).

 2. A valid AS/400 System Distribution Directory entry
    configured for use with cc:Mail. Configuration requires
    setting several parameters as described below.

    Use the command WRKDIRE, option 1-Add to configure a new
    user. If you use the command ADDIRE, then you must use
    the command WRKNAMSMTP to configure the SMTP address.

   2a. You MUST set the Mail Service level to System message
       store:
         Mail service level . . : System message store

   2b. You MUST set the Preferred Address to User ID/Address
       or SMTP name. It is recommended that you use SMTP
       name if you plan to configure and start SMTP. "User
       ID/Address" can be used on networks that prefer to run
       a SNA (802.2) protocol and do not wish to configure
       SMTP.

       SMTP configured and active:
         Preferred address . . . :   SMTP name

       SNA networks w/o SMTP active:
         Preferred address . . . :   User ID/Address

       The only other valid value for Preferred Address is
       "4) Other Preferred Address" with Address type
       FAXTELNB. Use this only for a Facsimile Support/400
       user.
        Preferred address . . .  4  1=User ID/Address
                                    2=O/R name
                                    3=SMTP name
                                    4=Other preferred address
        Address type  . . . .    FAXTELNB        F4 for list

   2c. If you chose the Preferred address of SMTP name you
       must configure a SMTP user ID and domain name.

       Press "F19= Add/Change name for SMTP" and configure
       the  following SMTP information:
          SMTP user ID  . . . . . .
          SMTP domain . . . . . . .
       where SMTP user ID must be your user ID (not user
       profile).

   The following is a typical example for user profile
   "newuser" on system "mysystem":
        User ID/Address . . . .   newuser   mysystem
        Description . . . . . .   John Doe
        System name/Group . . .   mysystem        F4 for list
        User profile  . . . . .   newuser         F4 for list
        Network user ID . . . .   newuser mysystem

        Name:
          Last  . . . . . . . .   Doe
          First . . . . . . . .   John
          Middle  . . . . . . .
          Preferred . . . . . .
          Full  . . . . . . . .   user name here
                              -----------------
        Mail service level  . .   2    1=User index
                                       2=System message store
                                       3=Other mail service
           For choice 3=Other mail service:
            Field name  . . . .                   F4 for list

       Preferred address . . .   3  1=User ID/Address
                                    2=O/R name
                                    3=SMTP name
                                    4=Other preferred address
          Address type  . . . .                   F4 for list

     **** Press F19 to configure the SMTP ADDRESS or use
          WRKNAMSMTP command *****
     **** Example for newuser@mysystem.mycompany.com   ******
         SMTP user ID  . . . . . . newuser
         SMTP domain . . . . . . . mysystem.mycompany.com

 NOTE: Any changes or additions to the System Distribution
       Directory will not be reflected to client PCs until
       the refresh interval has occurred or until the POP3
       server has been ended and restarted.

 Configure and Start the AS/400 SMTP (optional)
 ----------------------------------------------
 If you intend to use preferred address of 3=SMTP name, then
 you must configure and start SMTP. Refer to the manual
 TCP/IP Configuration and Reference (SC41-3420), Chapter 11
 SMTP for details.

 Configure and Start the AS/400 POP3 Server
 ------------------------------------------

 The version of cc:Mail shipped with Client Access uses the
 AS/400 POP3 host server program as-pop3 to receive and send
 mail as well as implement the AS/400 address book function.
 This host server must be configured and running for cc:Mail
 to function.

 The following configuration changes must be made on the
 AS/400 using the Change POP3 Server Attribute (CHGPOPA)
 command before cc:Mail clients can connect to the AS/400
 POP3 mail server.

     Configure the POP3 Server Attributes so that cc:Mail can
     connect to the AS/400 using a Client Access connection.
     *SNA should be used for Clients connected via the
     Netsoft router (twinax, SDLC, async, or LAN), Microsoft
     SNA Server, and OEM "routers".

     Host server connection . . . *IP, *SNA, *IPX, or *ALL

     Configure the POP3 Server Attributes so that cc:Mail can
     connect to the AS/400 System Distribution Directory
     (SDD). This will enable the address book function on
     the clients.

     Address book:
       Enabled  . . . . . . . . .   *YES * or *NO
       Refresh interval . . . . .   60 1-65535 minutes, *NONE

     Note: Configure YES only if the System Distribution
           Directory is to be made available to your cc:Mail
           clients.

 An end and start of the POP3 Mail Server is required before
 these changes will become active. These commands would
 normally be executed by an AS/400 system administrator.

     ENDTCPSVR *POP (End POP3 Mail Server)
     STRTCPSVR *POP (Start POP3 Mail Server)

 Start AS/400 Host Server Jobs (IP and IPX only)
 -----------------------------------------------

 A successful Client Access connection to the AS/400 POP3
 host server requires that the host server jobs be started on
 the AS/400.
 For TCP/IP and IPX connections, the server jobs are started
 using the command:

    STRHOSTSVR *ALL (normally executed by your AS/400 system
                     administrator)

 TCP/IP and/or IPX must be active before this command is run.
 If you choose to start the servers individually, rather then
 with *ALL, you must start: *SVRMAP, *SIGNON, and *CENTRAL.

 No special action needs to be taken to enable host servers
 for SNA connections (Twinax, SDLC, async, or 802.2
 protocol).
